With the "dguard" intelligent eCall system, digades is one of the ten winners of the German Mobility Award, held for the second time this year. Within the framework of the competition, in 2017 the "Germany – Land of Ideas" initiative and the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure are awarding groundbreaking best practice projects focusing on safety. With the "dguard" eCall system, digades offers an innovative solution for motorcyclists to make mobility safer and more reliable.
Around 170 start-ups, companies, associations and research institutes from all over Germany applied for the nationwide award with their projects. A 16-member expert jury, chaired by German MP Dorothee Bär, Parliamentary Secretary of State for the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, selected the competition’s ten prize-winning projects. Together with Ute Weiland, director of the "Germany – Land of Ideas" initiative, she paid tribute to the project leaders of the ten award winners at the Federal Ministry of Transport in Berlin.
Lutz Berger, CEO of digades, is pleased with the award of the German Mobility Prize: "As a passionate motorcyclist, I know all about the specific dangers and risks to which motorcyclists are exposed through no fault of their own. While eCall systems are required by law for newly registered cars in the EU from 2018, motorcyclists have so far waited in vain for a comparable solution. We tried to find an answer with our dguard. The fact that the Federal Ministry of Transport is paying tribute to our efforts is a great honour for us. With the award, we are nevertheless hoping that the political decision-makers at the EU level will introduce a corresponding eCall regulation for motorbikes as soon as possible."
