Safe control in series.

The differential lock switch is installed as standard in the dashboard. It is a centrally visible control element and enables the user to control the vehicle's three differential locks. But there is much more behind the switch's three easy-to-use buttons. A complex control unit with AUTOSAR operating system and 32-bit processor is concealed in the fibreglass-reinforced plastic housing. Connection to both the vehicle's CAN and LIN interfaces has been ensured. To prevent incorrect operation, we have developed the system in accordance with functional safety requirements in line with ISO standard 26262, ASIL level B, and are now manufacturing it in series production at our company with the same high standards.

Networking via the CAN and LIN interface of the vehicle

The system is connected to the actuators of the rear axle and front axle differential lock via LIN bus. Via the CAN bus interface of the vehicle, the differential lock switch receives various vehicle data, such as the current vehicle speed. In addition, the differential lock switch itself also sends data to the central control unit of the vehicle for further processing. These data are relevant for the ABS and ESP system in the vehicle, for insertions in the instrument cluster and for the functionality of the centre axle lock.

A broad spectrum of development know-how and production expertise

High demands are placed on operating elements within the direct field of vision of vehicle interiors. For this reason, know-how from all our development and production departments has been incorporated into the development and production of the differential lock switch. In addition to our competence in the development of complex electronic control units, the appearance and haptics of the product according to OEM specifications played a major role. In our validation center, a wide variety of product tests were carried out during the development process, some of them using specially developed test equipment. In addition, we live "Design for Manufacturing" and, thanks to our prototype and fixture construction, we have the in-house expertise to integrate product optimizations into the development process as quickly as possible. Everything dedicated to one goal: inspiring off-road experiences in series.
